Rush Bowls: Elevating Açai

DALLAS RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK: RUSH BOWLS

First of all, I have to say today has a lot of significance for plenty of reasons. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and today is October 3rd or Mean Girls Day or, ‘on Wednesdays we wear pink’. So what a perfect way to celebrate both events by tying a pink scrunchie around my hair, going for a run in my pink striped Nike’s, and grabbing an Açai bowl with my pink wallet. And yes, I’m counting Açai as pink today (I know it’s more like a purple haha).

I, like most of us out there now, am in love with Açai bowls. It’s my favorite treat after a good work out and a treat even on the days where I’m just sitting like a blob on the couch watching Vanderpump Rules.

First of all, I want to open the question – what is Açai ? I will definitely be the first to admit that I had no clue what it was beside it being classified as a superfood when I first got into these bowls.

So Açai is a berry from the palm trees in the South American rainforests. The berries are full of fiber, calcium, and antioxidants. So yes, they live up to it’s health reputation, but definitely don’t think that only eating Açai bowls will help you get rid of or stay away from cardiovascular disease! I think we all know we still need exercise for that!

Okay, so off my information box. Now onto Rush Bowl.s

I’m always on the look out for new places serving these bowls, especially since Dallas does not have a great variety of these shops. This place is located in the Mockingbird Station. This shop has many locations across the country and we are fortunate to have two in the DFW area! One in Flower Mound and one at this restaurant I live close to.

The açai was good and there are so many options for anyone craving any particular fruit or chocolate chips! Don’t forget this place also serves smoothies! I ordered the Beach Bowl – which is their best seller – and it was definitely filling and satisfying after a run. While I wish the bowl came with actual fruit pieces and offered more up in toppings, I loved the delicious granola with the hints of honey in every bite! I will be back!

Oh and P.S. – this place also serves treats for your puppy! And another P.S. – for all you fall lovers out there, they have a featured bowl this month – the Pumpkin Spice Bowl!

What to Order:

  • Beach Açai Bowl - Açai, mango, banana, pure guava juice, organic granola, and honey

Serving:

  • Acai Bowls and other bowls
  • Smoothies
  • Treats for your puppies

Highlights:

  • Extensive menu
  • Fresh ingredients
  • Get to choose which toppings you want on your bowl instead of having the toppings prefixed
  • Treats for your dogs!

Cons/Improvements:

  • Each topping costed money and that is okay since the base price of the bowls was around $8 and a lot of Acai bowls can definitely cost more than that! On the flip side, sometimes I like it when the bowls are set with the toppings all on top (but that’s just my preference!)

What I’m Looking Forward to Ordering Next

  • Smoothies!
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bowl
  • Pumpkin Spice Bowl

Parking: Parking lot, parking garage
